What is an ADDACS?
An ADDACS report is a notification of any amendments OR cancellations to a Direct Debit Instruction (DDI) and these can be received at any time. If received, these will be automatically applied onto the SmartDebit portal.
How am I notified of an ADDACS report?
SmartDebit will send you an e-mail to advise that you have an ADDACS report to view. A link within this e-mail will take you through to the Reports section on SmartDebit Pulse. You are then given the option of opening this as either a CSV or XML (CSV is generally easier to read).
What does an ADDACS look like?
If you open your ADDACS report as a CSV, the data will be depicted as above. The reason codes meanings are given to you within the report but they are broken down as follows:
0 and 1 Instruction Cancelled
2 – Payer Deceased
3 – Instruction transferred to a new bank or building society
B- Account Closed
C – Account /Instruction transferred to a different branch of a bank or building society.
E - Instruction amended
R – Instruction Reinstated.
With certain reason codes (reason code B Account Closed) you may wish to contact your Payer to obtain new details. However, all the necessary amendments will automatically be applied within the SmartDebit portal.
- ADDACs reports can refer to both cancellations and amendments, so it's important to open these reports to determine whether or not your Payer has cancelled their instruction.
