The beauty of the Direct Debit Scheme is that there are a number of ways in which your customers can sign up to pay by Direct Debit. The following list provides you with an indication of the flexibility offered by the Scheme:
The payer completes and signs a hard copy of a Direct Debit Instruction and returns this back to you via an accepted means (post, email, fax).
If your SUN is configured to AUDDIS you are able to accept Direct Debit through a variety of Paperless Methods:
An approved script is read out to your payer at which point the details are keyed onto the SmartDebit system. The bank details are validated and confirmation can be emailed immediately to the payer
The payer provides their authority for Direct Debit collection by completing his/her details on-screen. The bank details can undergo modulus checks during this stage
Details are taken verbally using an approved script, then keyed onto the SmartDebit system. The payer may be offered a paper DDI to sign which can be stored securely for audit purposes
- Telephone Keypad
The payer provides their authority by listening and responding appropriately to a pre-recorded message, pressing the relevant keypads when requested.
- Interactive TV
Similar to Internet Sign-Up, Payers may access their providers online portal via their interactive TV. The payer provides authority by completing their details on-screen, which are then sent through to SmartDebit.
- ALWAYS ensure you have your sponsoring banks approval before introducing another method of collecting Direct Debit details.
