Internet and web technologies are constantly changing and progressing. In order to keep up with these advances and to ensure that we can consistently deliver cutting edge and more importantly, secure, technology to our clients, we need to ensure they are running modern web browsers.
We support (i.e. actively fix display and functional issues excluding normal variation in layout inherent in different platforms):
- Google Chrome: latest two versions
- Mozilla Firefox: latest two versions
- Microsoft’s browser stream (currently Edge): latest two versions
- We endeavour to support the latest two versions of Safari, but this is not routinely tested.
All versions above are supported on Windows and Mac.
Supported browser configurations
Browser support depends on the users having the following settings:
- Cookies must be enabled
- Security protocol equal/newer than TLS 1.0
- Minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 1024
IE is not formally supported
Microsoft released Edge as its replacement of IE in 2015. IE always had compatibility problems with modern web standards so, in part, this was an attempt to break from the past. Edge has been Microsoft’s development browser of choice since 2015 but is continuing to release security updates on IE.
SmartDebit has decided that a browser from 2015, that doesn’t support latest web standards, is not being updated to include new features and is not supported by most library manufacturers whose code we rely on, cannot be supported.
Notes on compatibility view and earlier versions of IE7
SDOnline has not been tested on IE7 so it means if the application is run in compatibility mode of IE (any version including 9) then it will behave as IE7. So we advise avoiding compatibility mode.
To disable the compatibility view setting, visit the “Compatibility View Settings” dialogue and uncheck “Display Intranet Sites in Compatibility View”. Alternatively, it can be set via Group Policy
