To help better manage failed payments, SmartDebit have launched Automatic Represents within Pulse. This service is initially available for our OWN Service User Number customers, but will be made available to all Service Users in the coming weeks.
How it works:
This is an opt-in addition to your account, please contact your Account Manager or a member of our Customer Service Team to request this feature is enabled on your account.
Once enabled on your account, any failed collections with an ARUDD (Unpaid Direct Debit) reason code of 0 or 6 will be automatically represented (sent for collection again).
When enabling Automatic Represents you will need to decide on when you wish for the represent to take place.
Option A – Represent on next available collection date
E.g. An account with collection dates of the 1st / 15th / 21st and charge file lead time of 5 days: if an ARUDD is received following the collection on 1st, this will be automatically represented on 15th of the month.
Option B – Represent following your lead times
E.g. An account with collection dates of the 1st / 15th / 21st and charge file lead time of 5 days: if an ARUDD is received following the collection on the 1st this will be automatically represented on the first available date, which in this example would be the 5th of the month. *
Option B may result in additional file fees from your bank if collecting outside of your agreed collection dates.
*This date may be sooner or earlier depending on when the Bacs reports are received and when non-working days occur.
